3 Great Suggestions For Dressing Your Fall Bridal Party

By Aaron Hu

An important part of your fall wedding planning is to pick out the clothes for the bridal party. You want to choose clothes that look great on your bridal party and balances well with your wedding dress and the decor. How do you go about doing this? Your bridesmaids will likely be people of different body types and possible skin tone so some colors might look better on some of your bridesmaids than others. You challenge will be to balance these demands to create a lovely vision as the bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girl, and ring bear proceed down the hall. Here are some tips to help you get started.

First, you need to pick the dresses for your bridesmaids. Their clothing will have the most color since they will likely be wearing dresses. For the fall season the key is to go with metallic or jewel tones. The point is that rich colors can work for wide variety people especially if the dress design is simple and elegant. For metallic tones for warm yellowish and reddish tones such gold, bronze, and copper. When you are picking jewel tones go for hues such as crimson, deep reds, orange, or royal purple. Another great idea is to accent darker tones with lighter ones. So if your bridesmaids' dresses are crimson have then accented with ribbon or belts in gold and copper. Once again try to pick a color and design that can work for all your bridesmaids. Another idea is to take a page from fall leaves and vary the coloring of the dresses depending on the number of bridesmaids you have.

For the groomsmen you will mainly focus color on any accessories worn on the lapel and beneath the jacket of a formal suit or tuxedo. If you are going with suits there is more room for color. You can have the groomsmen where shirts in matching jewel tones to correspond with the bridesmaids. It also works if you go with the fall leaves idea. If you go the route of a tuxedo, the accessories to focus on will be the neckwear and cummerbund. In both cases have the groomsmen wear boutonnieres of fall blossoms. If you want to use fall colors with the suits, make sure to use darker tones that won't be too garish.

Don't forget here is your flower girl and your ring bearer. For you flower girl there is several things you can do. The very first is to have her dress in a younger version of the bridesmaids' dresses. You would then go the tradition route with a wreath of fall flowers, and a basket full of poppy, chrysanthemum, or sunflower petals.

You can also go the more fanciful route. Having her dressed like a seasonal sprite or pixie in an original fall hued dress in bright autumn colors. Instead of the flower wreath use one with fall leaves and seasonal grasses and foliage. You can also use fall leaves instead of the traditional petals. The ring bearer will also have more latitude. He will still be dressed in either a formal suit or tuxedo. In his case you can use bright fall colors for the suit as well as the neckwear and boutonniere. The ring pillow will be in rich fall colors like gold or bronze and be made of rich fabric like velvet or satin. - 30299
