Low Budget Wedding Reception Ideas

By Betsy Meeh

A costly part of a wedding is the reception and with couples having to encounter the cost of the wedding all by themselves having a fancy affair can be quite a challenge. A couple can still be able to have a great reception by thinking out of the box and making use of all the support they can get from family and friends.

The first thing you need for your reception is a place to gather with all your guests. Check with your church parish, many parishes have a decently sized placed that can be used as a reception hall. This option will be a lot cheaper.

To decorate the hall for your wedding reception, have some of your relatives or friends create the decorations. You'll be amazed at how creative and talented people are. Your loved ones won't charge you what a professional will.

If your wedding is not a huge affair, consider having your wedding reception in the backyard of a family member or acquaintance. To economize even further, borrow chairs and tables from family and friends.

Since the biggest cost at a wedding is the food, consider a potluck. As you send out your invitations make sure to include a special note giving your guests the option of bringing a present or a dish. You'll be surprised at the amazing response you'll get. Request a reply so you can monitor how much food you'll be getting.

Another way to keep your expenses low is by having someone you know make all the food. This will be less costly than a professional caterer. Ask your bridesmaids and groomsmen to help you serve the food. Relatives and friends are always eager to help during these events.

Wanting to have a big wedding but not having the money for it can be very discouraging for many couples; however, with the support of family and friends a couple can still have a low budget wedding reception that can be an unforgettable event. Having loved ones help with decorations, food, a hosting place, etc... is something a couple should not ignore. Why not make your wedding a family event! - 30299
