Wedding Favors and Creativity

By Jenny Smithers

There is little doubt that tough economic times make weddings, which are already tricky to plan, even trickier. Brides may be considering not giving wedding favors due to the economy. Yet, this would be a mistake.

There are certainly many ways to save money on a wedding, but one thing you should never skip is giving out wedding favors. People have grown to expect to receive a wedding favor and not having one, simply put, just makes you and everyone involved in your wedding look bad. Truthfully, you're better off reducing your wedding dress budget than you are skipping wedding favors. While the economy might not be roaring along right now, most guests will expect at least some sort of gift for attending your wedding.

Now that you realize that you truly need to have wedding favors regardless of your budget, what can you do if you are really pressed for cash? Don't worry; just think it through carefully and plan ahead, and you will come up with creative ideas. There are lots of ways that you can make your guest feel appreciated with creative choices. Consider meaningful gifts that come from the heart. Personalized gifts that show you care go a long way. For example, you can bake your guests a small batch of cookies or a fruit tart. Beautifully wrapped tasty treats make great wedding favors. If your guests know you baked something for them, they will feel as though you really gave their gift a personal touch. Other ideas for low-cost wedding favor are small candles or sachets of potpourri.

The gifts to your guest should be something lasting, memorable or both. You want to choose something that will stay with them both in their minds and hearts for some time to come. After all, those who have attended your wedding were kind enough to give you not only a gift, but their time as well. Let them know that you were thinking of them and appreciated their efforts on your most special of days. - 30299
