Wedding Centerpiece Ideas Inspired By The Seasons

By Florence Woods

If you're looking for wedding centerpiece ideas, using seasonal food, fruit and colors is a great idea for saving money and helping you to stick to a theme.

When you are considering how you are going to be able use seasonal themes in your wedding, consider how edibles and flowers will help you create a scene to remember.

Winter

If you are holding a wedding during the coldest months of the year, that does not mean it has to be colorless.

Flower centerpieces can include foliage such as holly and ivy, which set off a bright red or white flower beautifully. You could enhance the wedding table with decorated fir cones, cherubs, candles, glitter and sparkle.

There are many different possibilities open when designing for the winter months.

Autumn

My wedding was held in October so the Fall theme was easy to have some fun with.

Instead of flowers, think about the fact that fall represents the harvest. Gourds, pomegranates and sheaves of wheat can help you adorn the table and you may even find that using pumpkin vases can be something that appeals to you.

We also used black sparkling candles which looked stunning as the light faded and made the colors of the fruit and vegetables stand out even more.

Consider adding some black grass to tone down the colour a little and add some contrast.

Your wedding centerpiece ideas can have a great deal to do with the colors of autumn, so why not look into the oranges and reds that are available?

If you want an original wedding, you'll find that using ideas from the fall season can really capture the imagination.

Summer

Summer is a very popular time for weddings and you will find that the flowers that you want are going to be in full bloom and less expensive than they are during other times of year.

Sunflowers, iris, gladioli and roses are just a few of the striking and colorful flowers available at this time of year.

Also consider how beautiful the gentler, smaller flowers can be. This is where cornflowers and daises come in, as does meadow grass. You will find that these flowers do very well in the bouquets of your bridesmaids and in their hair.

Try using summer fruits like pineapples, mangoes, even coconuts, which can be displayed whole or sliced and arranged decoratively. They'll smell delicious and can even be eaten if the guests get peckish between courses!

When you're looking for seasonal wedding centerpiece ideas, there are plenty of themes to choose from. Remember: a great centerpiece idea does not have to be an expensive one! - 30299
